Since its creation, NAIR Center has tripled its team and expanded its research and technology‑transfer activity, while the Government of Navarra has increased the centre’s budget by 66%.

The Government of Navarra reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and to the responsible development of Artificial Intelligence with the presentation of NAIR Center’s progress and its portfolio of nine services aimed at institutions, companies and professionals.

Patricia Fanlo, Regional Minister for Universities, Innovation and Digital Transformation, and Gorka García, Managing Director of NAIR Center, outlined the centre’s track record and plans for the future—highlighting new partnerships, projects and research lines at the service of society and of the productive sectors.

Minister Fanlo emphasised the growth of the team, the quality of the research being carried out and the creation of high‑value jobs as key factors in the development of NAIR Center.

For his part, Managing Director García noted that “the team has already tripled the staff we started with”, and stressed the consolidation of collaborative projects with public administrations and companies, offering services to both public and private bodies.

NAIR Center’s research has evolved to address pressing challenges in AI, including not only technical aspects but also ethical, social and economic dimensions. The centre has established itself as a reference in research into explainable and trustworthy AI, in addition to its applications across different sectors.

Four priority research areas

The newly approved strategic plan focuses NAIR Center’s work on four axes: trustworthy AI; the application of AI to health; disruptive AI and its impact on society; and explainable AI.

Scientific Director Marisol Gómez highlighted “the significant advances achieved by the centre’s research teams in health, in trustworthy AI and in explainable AI”, and underlined their capacity to address cutting‑edge technological challenges.

Public–private collaboration as a key pillar

Collaboration between the public and private sectors has been strengthened in order to scale up impact projects, with companies working closely with the centre’s staff on high‑value initiatives.

NAIR Center also serves as a meeting point for companies and institutions interested in AI. The centre is the result of a research‑oriented approach that coordinates with the ecosystem and focuses on driving technological development in the region.

The development of NAIR Center represents a fundamental step in Navarra’s strategy to promote research, innovation and the responsible application of AI for the benefit of society as a whole.
